Please keep in mind that none of my postings take feasibility, logistics or budgets in to consideration. Disney is a place of fantasy, as is this place on the Internet. If anyone has ideas for other rides or attractions around the parks that are not being covered in a particular topic, please feel free to e-mail me. (see my profile) I will take the best ones and post them in your name.

The Aladdin Dark Ride

I have been bothered by those Aladdin flying carpets in adventureland for some time now. I mean really, who needs those? Why not an Aladdin dark ride? The exterior of the building could have Middle Eastern theme.

I think they should keep it elegant and not cheese it up with an array of plywood cutouts of Aladdin and the Genie. Try to use a color pallet that represents the Middle East and not just slap everything with Barney purple, Princess pink and Genie blue. The ride itself should take place from the first person perspective, IE: we are Aladdin. We do not see him throughout the ride, as was the original Snow White ride. Once through the cue the ride cars would be a fusion of the Peter Pan’s Flight cars and the Magic Carpets of Aladdin car. However, it would have one distinct difference. There would be a small push button control panel for each of the guests. (more on that later)

The guest would sit down inside the carpet and be whisked away to the city of Agrabah. The small town we see below the carpets would be similar to the Peter Pan ride. However, it would be on a slightly bigger scale, so the carpets would have to be physically further away for the same effect. Why bigger you ask? Well, instead of a small docile model set. I think the town should have mini AA's, about the size of action figures. They can walk around, interact with each other and look up at you while you fly by. The next scene takes us to ground level where we encounter AA's of Jafar, his cronies and Lago. They have captured Princess Jasmine. The next scene shows the princess in shackles and looking very sad... But wait who is that, it's the little monkey Abu with the key. As we enter the next area we see that Jasmine is free and wants to ride with us. I'm not sure how this could be done, but I think that Jasmine should somehow board our carpet for the rest of the trip. Either some kind of pop-up AA or with a Finding Nemo ride style projection trick. We then happen across the Genie lamp. We are told by a voice to rub the lamp, then the Genie pops out. The Genie would be another Nemo projection style character. The Genie then offers three choices of where we would like to ride off in to the sunset, so to speak. Different areas of the world or maybe even imaginary CGI created places. Here is where those Horizons style push button pads come in. Everyone in the carpet would make their wish and the popular vote gets it. The carpets then situate themselves in front of an Imax screen and we are taken to "a whole new world." with the music to accompany the end of the ride.

I like it! Do you know of the Aladdin walkthrough in Disneyland Paris? I did a video of it, it's over at www.themedattractions.com

Put it in Morocco at the World Showcase. I think those areas could always use a boost from rides.

Chris, I have not seen the walkthrough in DP. I like like your site and will add it to my links. The video is good, I wish there were more walkthrough's in the state side parks.

anonymous, Morocco is a great idea!!! I think that all of the lands in World Showcase should have an attraction, not just a 360 movie. More on that later...

I tell ya who ever came up with the idea of this site really knows what they are talking about! Nice job!!! I have been interested in imagineering for a while now and am learning a lot from the different sites. I agree with anonymous..the countries could use some good rides. Aladin would be perfect for Morrocco.

Another good idea, but what happens if there's a tie in the vote?

Ok, if there is 4 people and 2 pic one thing and 2 pic another. the ride would choose the first 2 that were chosen

Good idea in your mind, but rides need to be timed out so they end and arrive on a somewhat consistent basis, so the employees can unload and load more patrons.

I'm not sure what you mean. I agree that timing is important. However, this ride that I have described does not really cover any new ground. All of the concepts have been put to use in other rides.

The choices could all be timed out to the same length. If they were projected, with one car-pet at a time in the final room, it would work out for the unload, and still provide a different experience each time.

This would be a good attraction to use what I thought was going to happen at Mission Space. With such a small building , The ride mechanism could be the tower of terror ride controls, only horizontally. The current tower of terror moves faster than the speed of gravity and the fall is controlled by the computer, not a free fall. So why not use this speed controlled motion forward and backward moving horizontally and and even up and down as a flying carpet could do!
